K9 Maverick is currently training to become Burlington Police's dedicated therapy dog, undergoing an intensive program with the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA), meticulously overseen by Officer Robert Russell and Certified Trainer Deb Clark K9 Owner and Founder of K9 Search and Rescue Services LLC. Maverick's training equips him to provide emotional support and comfort in various community settings including schools, libraries, senior centers, and local events. As he prepares for his role, he offers companionship and reduces stress among community members he interacts with. Officer Russell not only guides Maverick through his training but also ensures his well-being by managing his medical care and dietary needs, with the support of community donations. This preparation fosters a calm and reassuring presence in Maverick, enhancing positive interactions between law enforcement and the community and providing support during challenging times.
